Most of us seem content to accept the world largely in the way it is presented to us by what passes as the mainstream of society. Conspiracy, despite its overwhelming historical precedence, is often dismissed as non-existent or, at best, limited to small or foreign groups [1].
Consequently, when a discussion in a Church class arises upon the subject of secret combinations, such organizations as the Mafia, Ku Klux Klan and terrorist groups often end up on the blackboard.
While it is true, no doubt, that many of these groups conspire, and some do great evil, do they actually fit the full description of what we know about secret combinations?
In trying to answer this we need to understand what the scriptures tell us about such oath-bound societies, as well as review the words of Church leaders on the issue.
What Do The Scriptures Teach Us About Secret Combinations?
Secret combinations existed both in the Old and New World in ancient times. Below is a list of some of the things we learn from the scriptures concerning the nature, purpose and methods of these secret combinations:
1. Cain founded the first secret combination and became known as Master Mahan.[2] This title and the oaths and covenants were passed down to subsequent leaders of the secret combination (Moses 5: 31, 49;Helaman 6:30).
2. Secret combinations are “most abominable and wicked above all” in the sight of God (see Ether 8:18).
3. Secret combinations are Satanic in nature, receiving revelation from, and being founded and held up by, the devil (Moses 5:29–30; 2 Nephi 26:22; Helaman 6:26; 3 Nephi 6:28; Ether 8:16, 25) who transforms himself into an angel of light and stirs up men to contention whereby wickedness and thus secret combinations increase (2 Nephi 9:9; Helaman 6:21; 3 Nephi 7:7).
4. Secret combinations administer secret ancient oaths handed down from Cain (Ether 8:15–16), taken by swearing by the God of heaven, the heavens, the earth, the throat and the head (Moses 5:29–30;Ether 8:13–14).
5. The manner of their oaths and combinations are had among all people (Ether 8:20).
6. Secret combinations have secret signs and words (Helaman 6:22), protect one another (Helaman 6:21, 23), and mingle into society in a manner whereby they cannot be found (Helaman 1:12).
7. Members of secret combinations are punished by the combination if they reveal the wickedness of their co-conspirators (Helaman 6:24; Ether 8:14).
8. One of the purposes of secret combinations is to murder (Moses 5:31; Helaman 2:8); they also seek to murder the prophets of God (Alma 37:30). These combinations cause slaughter (3 Nephi 1:27, 2:11), war and millions of deaths; the Jaredites and Nephites being destroyed because of them (Helaman 2:13–14;Ether 8:21).
9. Secret combinations are established to rob and get gain (Moses 5:31; Helaman 2:8). The Book of Mormon refers to them as “robbers” over fifty times, which suggest that theft was their chief activity or the activity for which they were most notorious.
10. Gadianton Robbers prefer to plunder rather than working for themselves (3 Nephi 4:1–5).
11. Members of secret combinations regard each other as brethren and appear to have a communal attitude toward property (3 Nephi 3:6–7).
12. The teachings and practices of the robbers are tempting and corrupt the hearts of the people as they spread, eventually even seducing most of the righteous into believing in their works, partaking of their spoils, and even becoming involved in their secret murders and combinations (Helaman 6:38; Ether 9:6).
13. Pride, the desire for money, and seeking the praise of man make people susceptible to uniting with secret combinations; such go on to murder, plunder, and bear false witness against their neighbor (Helaman 7:21, 25–26).
14. Secret combinations help those who seek for power to gain power as well as to murder, plunder, lie and commit wickedness and whoredoms (Ether 8:16).
15. Secret combinations keep the people in darkness (Ether 8:16) and use fair promises to lead people away (Ether 8:17).
16. Secret combinations flourished first in the more settled parts of the land (Helaman 3:23) and among the wicked (Helaman 6:38; 4 Nephi 1:42).
17. One of the purposes of secret combinations is to gain power (Helaman 2:8; Ether 8:23, 11:15) by usurping power and authority over the people (Helaman 7:4). They seek to gain sole power over the government and, in the Book of Mormon, were successful in doing so (Helaman 6:39).
18. Secret combinations retain power so that they and their supporters may get gain and glory, and so that they may more easily steal, commit adultery, kill and do according to their own will (Helaman 7:5).
19. Secret combinations break the laws of God and the laws of their country (Helaman 6:23).
20. Secret combinations stir up rebellion (Ether 11:15) and dissent, and use lies and flattery to lead people to join with them (3 Nephi 1:28–29), targeting the rising generation (3 Nephi 1:29–30).
21. The members of secret combinations believe their secret works and society to be good (3 Nephi 3:9).
22. Secret combinations pretend to act on behalf of their people in reclaiming their rights (3 Nephi 3:10), believing they have been wronged and hating the righteous (3 Nephi 3:4).
23. Secret combinations seek to overthrow government (3 Nephi 7:6), establish kings – or oligarchies (see Mosiah 29:21–22) – and destroy the liberty of a republic (3 Nephi 6:30, 7:10); the king-men believe they have the blood of nobility (Alma 51:21).
24. Secret combinations, once in government, lay aside the commandments of God, corrupt righteous laws, and administer no justice to the people (Mosiah 29:22; Helaman 7:4), condemning the righteous for their righteousness, allowing the guilty to go free because of their money (Helaman 7:5).
25. Secret combinations shed the blood of the saints and oppress them (Helaman 6:39; 3 Nephi 6:29;Ether 8:22), threatening not only the rights and liberty of the people but also the Church (3 Nephi 2:12).
26. When any society has suffered such combinations to spread over them they will be destroyed (Ether 8:22).
27. One of the purposes of the Book of Mormon is to show us the work of ancient secret combination so that we may repent and suffer not that these same murderous combinations should get above us (Ether 8:23), and that we should awake to a sense of our awful situation when we see these things among us (Ether 8:24).
28. Speaking of a secret combination built up by the devil, the master of lies, in our day, the Book of Mormon tells us that those who build it up do so to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations and countries (Ether 8:25).
29. In the last days the gentiles shall build up secret combinations which shall spill the blood of the saints and seek to destroy the people (2 Nephi 26:22; Ether 8:25; Mormon 8:27).
30. Preaching the word of God destroys secret combinations (Helaman 6:37).
What Have Church Leaders Said About Secret Combinations?
What do we know about secret combinations from latter-day prophets, seers and revelators? It’s interesting in reading these how they generally give a very different view than the one commonly held by members of the Church. The following quotations are in chronological order (titles added):
- A secret band will sap the strength of America in the last days
“I have seen the end of this nation and it is terrible. I will tell you in the name of the LORD that a secret band will sap the life of this nation.”(Moses Thatcher, from an address given at the Franklin Ward, Franklin, Idaho, June 16, 1882 and entered into the Historical Record thereof)
- We are in the midst of great propaganda and even the elect are being deceived
“We are in the midst of the greatest exhibition of propaganda that the world has ever seen. Just do not believe all you read or hear. The elect are being deceived.” (J. Reuben Clark, Conference Report, October 1941)
- A global tyranny to be established by stealth in the last days
“Satan…[plans] to destroy liberty and freedom ~ economic, political, and religious, and to set up in place thereof the greatest, most widespread, and most complete tyranny that has ever oppressed men. He is working under such perfect disguise that many do not recognize either him or his methods.” (First Presidency, General Conference, October 1942)
- Government & Church to suffer “vacant places” due to the Conspiracy
“If the conspiracy comes here it will probably come in its full vigor and there will be a lot of vacant places among those who guide and direct, not only this government, but also this Church of ours.” (J. Reuben Clark, Conference Report, April 1944)
- Satan has control now and is guiding the governments of the world
“Satan has control now. No matter where you look, he is in control, even in our own land. He is guiding the governments as far as the Lord will permit him. That is why there is so much strife, turmoil, confusion all over the earth. One master mind is governing the nations. It is not the President of the United States…it is not the king or government of England or any other land; it is Satan himself.” (Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, Vol. 3, pp. 314-315)
- Socialism-communism is a conspiracy
“…we should accept the command of the Lord and treat socialistic communism as the tool of Satan. We should follow the counsel of the President of the Church and resist the influence and policies of the socialist-communist conspiracy wherever they are found–in the schools, in the churches, in governments, in unions, in businesses, in agriculture.” (Ezra Taft Benson, Conference, October 1961)
- A vast, worldwide secret combination to seek to overthrow all lands
“Concerning the United States, the Lord revealed to his prophets that its greatest threat would be a vast, worldwide ‘secret combination’ which would not only threaten the United States but also seek to ‘overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations…’(Ether 8:25)” (Ezra Taft Benson, Conference, October 1961)
- A deliberate conspiracy to destroy the U.S. Constitution exists
“And do not think that these usurpations, intimidations, and impositions are being done to us through inadvertence or mistake; The whole course is deliberately planned and carried out; its purpose is to destroy the Constitution and our constitutional government; then to bring chaos, out of which the new Statism with its slavery is to arise, with a cruel, relentless, selfish, ambitious crew in the saddle, riding hard with whip and spur, a red-shrouded band of night riders for despotism.” (J. - Socialist-communist conspiracy at work both at home and abroad
“Our priceless heritage is threatened today as never before in our lifetime: from without by the forces of Godless Communism, and at home by our complacency and by the insidious forces of the Socialist-Communist conspiracy, with the help of those who would abandon the ancient landmarks set by our fathers and take us down the road to destruction. It was Alexander Hamilton who warned that ‘nothing is more common than for a free people, in times of heat and violence, to gratify momentary passions, by letting into the government, principles and precedents which afterwards prove fatal to themselves.’ (Alexander Hamilton and the Founding of the Nation, p. 462.)” (Ezra Taft Benson, General Conference, April 1968)
- There is no conspiracy theory in the Book of Mormon
“This most correct book on earth states that the downfall of two great American civilizations came as a result of secret conspiracies whose desire was to overthrow the freedom of the people. “And they have caused the destruction of this people of whom I am now speaking,” says Moroni, “and also the destruction of the people of Nephi.” (Eth. 8:21.) Now undoubtedly Moroni could have pointed out many factors undoubtedly Moroni could have pointed out many factors that led to the destruction of the people, but notice how he singled out the secret combinations, just as the Church today could point out many threats to peace, prosperity, and the spread of God’s work, but it has singled out the greatest threat as the great conspiracy. There is no conspiracy theory in the Book of Mormon –it is a conspiracy fact. - Modern founders of secret works arose about same time as Restoration
“It is well to ask, what system [referring to Isaiah 29:15–16] established secret works of darkness to overthrow nations by violent revolution? Who blasphemously proclaimed the atheistic doctrine that God made us not? Satan works through human agents. We need only look to some of the ignoble characters in human history who were contemporary to the restoration of the gospel to discover fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy. I refer to the infamous founders of Communism and others who follow in their tradition…” (Ezra Taft Benson, A Witness and a Warning, Conference, October 1979)
- Gadianton robbers fills the seats in many governments
“Gadianton robbers fill the judgement seats in many nations. An evil power seeks to overthrow the freedom of all nations and countries.” (Apostle Bruce R. McConkie, speaking in the April 1980 General Conference)
- We must recognize, address and quit building up secret combinations
“…the Book of Mormon exposes the enemies of Christ. It confounds false doctrines and lays down contention. (See 2 Ne. 3:12.) It fortifies the humble followers of Christ against the evil designs, strategies, and doctrines of the devil in our day. The type of apostates in the Book of Mormon are similar to the type we have today. God, with his infinite foreknowledge, so molded the Book of Mormon that we might see the error and know how to combat false educational, political, religious, and philosophical concepts of our time…Now, we have not been using the Book of Mormon as we should. Our homes are not as strong unless we are using it to bring our children to Christ. Our families may be corrupted by worldly trends and teachings unless we know how to use the book to expose and combat falsehoods in socialism, rationalism, etc…The situation in the world will continue to degenerate unless we read and heed the words of God and quit building up and upholding secret combinations, which the Book of Mormon tells us proved the downfall of ancient civilizations.” (Ezra Taft Benson, First Presidency Message, Ensign, January 1988).
- A specific secret combination is increasing its global dominion
“[Wickedness] is more highly organized, more cleverly disguised, and more powerfully promoted than ever before. Secret combinations lusting for power, gain, and glory are flourishing. A secret combination that seeks to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries is increasing its evil influence and control over America and the entire world.” (Ezra Taft Benson, I Testify, Conference, October 1988).
- Modern-day Gadianton Robbers seek to bring down the Church, woo the people with sophistry and take control of society
“It is the terrorist organizations that must be ferreted out and brought down. We of this Church know something of such groups. The Book of Mormon speaks of the Gadianton robbers, a vicious, oath-bound, and secret organization bent on evil and destruction. In their day they did all in their power, by whatever means available, to bring down the Church, to woo the people with sophistry, and to take control of the society. We see the same thing in the present situation.” (Gordon B. Hinckley, General Conference, October, 2001)

Is History An Accident?
Accidentalism is the view of history taught today in most schools. This portrays history as largely a series of unrelated events. Another view, and one posited in this article, is what has been called the conspiratorial view of history. This latter teaches that history is largely a series of related events. Today many people view conspiracy as something strange, on the fringe or to be dismissed, and that those who speak of conspiracy must be a little crazy or extreme. This is a very perplexing viewpoint because it is a matter of historical record that conspiracy has been with us from the beginning. Plots, intrigues and secret combinations have plagued government and societies at large from the beginning of time. Small groups or families conspired in ancient Rome, they conspired among the city-states of Renaissance Italy and in the churches and towers of medieval Europe. Plays, movies and books have been made about them. Nations, and civilizations, have risen and fallen due to the events enacted by such conspiratorial groups.
As Latter-day Saints we do not subscribe to accidentalism. We believe that the hand of Providence has helped shaped out world and that, among other things, the Lord guided the events in this world to bring about the circumstances where religious freedom was sparked leading eventually to a free nation under God wherein the Restoration could begin. However, we sometimes have a harder time believing that the non-accidental view of history also includes events inspired of the devil such as the events leading to the Great Apostasy. We should not be oblivious or stand in denial of such a view of history, or of the existence and nature of secret combinations. We need to, as Moroni put it, wake up to our awful situation.
What Now?
It has been said that the revelations of God provide the answer to all questions. We often forget this and are quick to base our views purely upon what the world teaches us about history, politics, science and other important subjects.
With this is mind, we should prayerfully ponder and read what the scriptures and Church leaders have said touching on the topics of liberty, government, agency, secret combinations, and so forth. The amount of material on these topics may surprise you if you have not looked into it before. As far as talks by leaders of the Church are concerned, you might want to start by visiting www.ldsfreedomportal.net which lists (and links to) many important addresses by Church leaders.

[2] The word Mahan is of uncertain origin but the footnotes to Moses 5:31 suggest that the root of the word (“maha”) can be rendered as “mind”, “destroyer”, or “great one”. Matthew M. Brown favours the “destroyer” meaning (see “Girded about with a Lambskin”, Journal of Book of Mormon Studies: Volume – 6, Issue – 2, Pages: 124-151, Provo, Utah: Maxwell Institute, 1997). Depopulation, through various means, seems to be a strong theme in conspiratorial agendas. It would appear that those who control (banksters, etc.) the “Intelligence” organizations (not a few) in our time, fit this to a T (and most have three-letter acronyms).
So why are there so many members of the church working for them?
I would say that the secret combinations (Gadiatons) have gained control in our time too.
Cleon Skousen once told me that I had two choices; 1) Sleep with a rifle under my bed and stay up nights worrying, or 2) keep close to the Holy Ghost and be worthy of the spirit of discernment to keep safe.
The 2nd choice works.
The Book of Mormon missionaries went among their enemies and by their example, were able to convince them to accept the Gospel. Perhaps those in the employ of Gadiantons today are as strong in their convictions and principles and are making a positive difference among them. At the moment, I only see the righteous being attacked and destroyed and we see wolves in sheeps’ clothing among the Saints (see the Latter-Day Politicians link).

The views presented here are awesome. More to the point. Please read 3rd Nephi 6:20-30. This scripture talk of “people” who oppose Christ and his teachings. At this point Christ is close to visit the America’s (similar to now) and they KNEW the teachings. They being the Judges and Lawyers. These Judges and Lawyers are part of the secret combinations as clearly pointed out in v. . I’d like point out that, these judges and attorney’s are now part of a group known as BAR members. What does B.A.R. stand for? This group of people report to the British Accredited Registry, back in England. They have kept secret, as part of an oath, that the US is in bankruptcy and has been since the early 1930’s. With us being in bankruptcy we are in an “admiralty” or “maritime” juristiction. So the attorney’s re-present “us” in court because we have confessed that we’re incompatant of handling our own affairs (by hiring the attorney). Then they get you to confess that you are the ALL CAPS entity on your drivers license. The ALL CAPS name is a CORPORATION – NOT A LIVING BEING.
The point being, that the attorney’s sale you as a slave of the state. With your “confession” to being the entity on your DL or you answer to “mr.” or “mrs.” or “miss”, these are all titles of peonage, the courts use hidden, secret funds, that should be yours, but they have kept them from you, to get rich and subject us to slavery just as the scriptures have warned of.

Is it surprising that social security and bank routing numbers have the same number of digits? We’re walking banks to them. Our income is a deposit, our spending is expense, and our taxes is what we pay our masters!
And yet, in our present day, our current prophet has said nothing concerning some “secret combination” or conspiracy from some unseen force overthrowing our government.

Besides the fact that it would defeat the purpose of this mortal test if the prophet were to completely spell it out for you, recent modern prophets have said quiet a bit and look at how they were received. You need not be commanded in all things. WAKE UP! You don’t need to be told what to think.
It only takes a little digging into the present day corruption to see that Lucifer’s attack on our agency is far more “progressed” than we might have thought.

How many times do we have to be warned already? The Lord has given us warning enough through past prophets and apostles. I can see the great sifting in the Lord’s own house has already begun.

I can see plenty of corruption in governments throughout the world. That is not what is at point here. The point is if “our” government is being taken over by some conspiracy. I don’t buy into it. All those who promote the idea have no real solid evidence- it is always heresay- something they heard passed on down the line. They also tell of diminished liberty or the destruction of “agency”.
Let’s be honest here about agency and what it is. Agency is a right given to the free to act and choose correct principles. Satan destroys our agency when he lulls us into sin and the chains thereof. What was the war about in heaven? It wasn’t about force or compulsion to do the right thing, it was about Satan vying for th edestruction of our agency through getting us to be trapped in sin for eternity. Lest’s really look at the bigger picture with what is happening with the destruction of our agency in this country. It’s happening with more rampant sinful natures- it’s through the highly addictive pleasureas surrounding us, trapping us and chaining us down to spiritual destruction. Look at the effect of pornography, drugs, immorality, violence, hatred, etc and that is exactly the war that was in heaven that is now being fought on earth. Satan still seeks the destruction of our agency through getting us to choose spiritual bondage- exactly what he wanted in the war in heaven.
Our nation, our constitution, stands as an eternal beacon for not only our nation but for the whole world as a means to become free both physically and spiritually. Let’s look at the real enemy here. Are there governments that have or are being taken over by secret combinations? Of course, we have only to look at our south borders as a testimony of that. But is our government in that same state of affairs? Absolutely not!
I was more of your opinion until I turned over the rock and started looking deeper than what the sound-byte mainstream media was pushing. The plain and hard facts contradict what you’re thinking. Unfortunately, you will see what you want to see. People hear and believe what makes them feel good a lot of the time. So there’s nothing anyone can do to prove it to you conclusively. Oddly enough, there’s nothing you can say or do to prove that a conspiracy at the top levels of the US govt doesn’t exist either.
For starters, remember that your country is different than your government. As the author clearly outlines, the conspirators took over the government. It didn’t start out corrupt.
Honestly you really don’t have to look very far. As far as modern corruption goes, you need to spend some time looking into the following events. Know this though, that you will find experts on both sides of all these issues. The mainstream bias will prop up those who side with them. To say that if conspiracy were occurring, then the media would have a field day with it is a red herring. What I’m saying is that there are multitudes of people talking about it. They just don’t get any airtime. (…which is evidence of the corruption.) Besides too many people think, “Well that’s just crazy talk.” Do you really think that same media that sold us all those perverse things you were talking about is going to tell you the truth about who is ruling/ruining your country and why?

You can google any number of these and they all lead to intertwining conspiracies and intrigue. You can read mountains of books and listen to hundreds of first hand testimonies of folks who have been close to it.
The problem with understanding it all is that it is truly “secret” as the Book of Mormon prophets indicated. We are seeing the evidence of works of darkness. We don’t exactly know what the whole truth is, but to discount Moroni’s words, and Pres. Monson’s statement and Pres Packer’s statements is pure folly.

You’ve got to look at the real world nuances of conspiracy. These are Lucifer’s minions. They are fighting amongst themselves too. There is a power struggle going on near the top. To start seeing what’s going on you need to look past mainstream thought and start thinking critically for yourself.
A good starting question to ask, might be “Why do we have both inflation and debt as a nation?” We don’t need both. The govt should be able to print as much as it wants right?
Just because we’re still fat and happy here in the US doesn’t mean that we’re not going to get our comeuppance for the corruption in our government. Rome wasn’t built in a day and it didn’t fall in a day either.

So basically what you are saying is that if a prophet dies his words are no longer valid? Just because a servant of God is no longer alive doesn’t mean that his words are no longer current. Is the Book of Mormon current? What about the Bible? Are the 10 commandments outdated?
What I am saying is that if our country were in such dire conditions politically, our current presidency would say something specifically about it. They have mentioned nothing on the matter.

You are wrong about what agency is. Agency is a gift given to ALL men by God so that we may choose for ourselves which path we will go. Just read the book “Non Dare Call it Conspiracy” (it is on the internet) as suggested by Ezra Taft Benson. He was a government insider and a prophet telling you what is really going on. There really is no argument after that.
Hasn’t our government been taken over by socialists? Didn’t they steal the election from we the people? Of course Satan wants to enslave us with sin, but to say he is not interested in enslaving us by the government as well is short-sighted. Why the modern prophets aren’t saying anything? Well they are. We, as a culture, just aren’t taking them seriously. It’s not just 911. It’s not just our government. It’s not just limited to one or two issues. It is the entire history of man.
The big problem is that the prophet would have to spend days and days explaining the specifics of all the recent corruption. There’s so much conspiracy that it would take forever to cover the important parts. Most would have changed the channel to American Idol or the NBA finals before he could explain even the highlights.
So … they talk in generalities. To name specifics would be to lessen the importance of things they don’t have time for. Mormon was only able to write the 100th part. It’s been decades that the US government has been sufficiently corrupted to force the prophets into generalisms. This article is very germane. And it’s adequate. We should be able to apply the principles. There is not enough time for anyone (including a prophet) to TELL you about the specific corruptions. MIAMI — Banking giant Wachovia Corp. will pay $160 million to settle a federal investigation into laundering of illegal drug profits through Mexican exchange houses in the largest case of its kind ever brought against a U.S. bank, prosecutors said Wednesday.
“This is historic,” acting U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Sloman said. “There is no other case like this one anywhere.”
The probe, which began in 2005 when a Drug Enforcement Administration narcotics dog in Florida detected cocaine traces in an airplane, ultimately uncovered at least $110 million in drug profits laundered from Mexico through Wachovia. The total settlement includes forfeiture in that amount plus a $50 million fine.
In fact, officials said Wachovia had no way of checking some $420 billion in transactions from Mexican exchange houses for possible money-laundering activity. That means investigators didn’t get potentially key information on drug cartels, terrorist financing networks and other organized crime enterprises.

I wonder how many LDSs read and pondered the statement by Prresident Packer in the August Ensign (P 23, bottom right) about secret combinations. One could make a case for applying the term “secret combination” only to athiests and agnostics. I have no doubt that many LDS Church leaders consider this topic, as well as the subject of freedom/liberty a distraction to other principles of the gospel that they are promoting at this time, and avoid, even object to its discussion in their areas of stewardship. I have personally encountered that attitude in my efforts to awake members to our responsibility to the principoles fo the original Constitution, their preservation, and their eventual restoration. I will be pleasantly, but very much surprised if the topics of secret combinations and constitutional principles are revived with any real push from LDS Church leaders at any level.
This is by far the most superb website covering the secret conspiracy from an LDS point of view. It sin’t my site, I am the definition of technology illiterate, but it is fantastic.
I firmly believe that the one of the main reasons (there are probably several) why the brethren don’t discuss details of the conspiracies that pervade our federal government is because they simply can’t. The church MUST maintain a strict policy of political neutrality, and this doesn’t just mean staying in the aisle of the manufactured left/right paradigm we’ve all been crammed into. It means not taking any clear position on issues that matter to the real powers that be (gay marriage doesn’t matter to them because it doesn’t threaten their power one way or the other). This is the only way for the church to keep from coming into their cross-hairs, which could invite oppressive actions that would make it very hard to preach the gospel and build the New Jerusalem.
I think our leaders and scriptures have made it clear enough. I feel it’s treading on dangerous territory to delve into the various particulars of secret combinations in our day as it would only result in more people being tempted to join in them.
If you don’t believe in any of this conspiracy-within-our-government stuff, you should still be able to realize that if the conspiracies did exist, the prophet would likely be silent on them. Thus, you can’t say that since the prophet doesn’t talk about them (which has been shown above to not be the case), they must not exist (or must not be significant if they do exist). In General Conference last weekend, President Uchtdorf told the priesthood holders:
“To implement divine welfare principles, you need not look always to Salt Lake City. Instead you need to look into the handbooks, into your heart, and into heaven. Trust the Lord’s inspiration and follow His way. (continued in next post)
In the end you must do in your area what disciples of Christ have done in every dispensation: counsel together, use all resources available, seek the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, ask the Lord for His confirmation, and then roll up your sleeves and go to work.”
As you can see, we are being encouraged to stop depending on the brethren for all information and ideas regarding our relationship with the world around us. Could this be in part intended to prepare us for the work we will need to do to save the Constitution? I don’t know, but I do believe that if we are to save the Constitution (and it has been repeatedly prophesied that we will), we will have to do it in the way President Uchtdorf describes – without direct instructions from SLC for the reasons I
mentioned above. So let’s take some initiative and “use all resources available” to educate ourselves regarding what’s causing “this nation [to] be on the verge of crumbling to pieces and… the Constitution [to be] on the brink of ruin” (Joseph Smith) because that time has certainly come in my opinion. Then, let’s thoughtfully and prayerfully figure out what we can do about it and then “roll up [our] sleeves and go to work.” Who knows – perhaps this work will actually involve church welfare principles somehow.
For those who still doubt whether recent prophets have warned us of secret combinations controlling the highest places of our government, know that during Ezra Taft Benson’s very last conference talk (“I Testify”) in November of 1988, he said:
“As a special witness of Jesus Christ, and as His humble servant, it is now my obligation and privilege, as the Spirit dictates, to bear pure testimony and witness to that which I know to be true. This I will do… I testify that wickedness is rapidly expanding in EVERY SEGMENT of our society. It is more HIGHLY ORGANIZED, more cleverly disguised, and more powerfully promoted than ever before. SECRET COMBINATIONS lusting for power, gain, and glory ARE FLOURISHING. A secret combination that seeks to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries is increasing its evil influence and CONTROL OVER AMERICA and the entire world.”
The prophets are constantly preaching about government conspiracy. ‘Read the Book of Mormon.’ How many times was that said in this last conference? How many times have we been told that it applies to us and was compiled by Mormon who saw our day? Must the brethren have to tell you things explicitely? I think that it’s up to the individual to gain knowledge, that’s part of our test. If you have the Spirit guiding your search for the truth then you will know what you need to. The importance of receiving personal revelation has been constantly spoken about in the last few conferences as well:)
Coming to this late but I have several thoughts:
* For me the jury is out on whether or not 9/11 was an inside job. The conspiracy theorists on this one say stuff that does not match my memory of that day. What I experienced was that it was only several hours after first impact that the news was claiming Al Qaeda and the Taliban might be responsible. When I very first saw the footage I said, “bin Laden did that!” My mom said, “Who?” I said, “The same guy that tried it in 1993.” Later on Bill Clinton was on Letterman and he said he had the same thought when he first saw the news.
* continued. Say what you want of Clinton but he seemed sincere about this, like he really took it personally. I think he said he also talked on the phone with Bush about it shortly after the event. Were they secretly talking about how they were glad it had been pulled off? I’m not so sure of it. But something that did seem very odd to me that day was WTC 7 going down. That made no sense.
* What do we do about all these warnings of secret combinations? I do believe there’s something to them but do we run around screaming that the sky is falling? Do we just do the best we can individually and hope our election choices are inspired?
* If the conspiracy is not just a Democrat or a Republican thing then do we have any hope of ever voting for a non-tainted candidate?
* When a POTUS visits a prophet does the prophet act nice during the visit, then when the POTUS leaves the prophet thinks, “That guy’s part of the secret combination but I better not let on that I know it.”?
* Is Mitt Romney a decent but not amazing guy who could make a good POTUS because he could at least help weed out corruption or is he as corrupt as the rest of them or is he amazing and John Birch’s dream personified that will finally put the country on the right course?

Bin Laden was the perfect patsy since he planted bombs in the basement. I doubt he could have pulled off the expert demolition on video. Clinton is corrupt or his friends are the most unlucky people in history. What is the body count up to? Romney was good until his wife’s plane was almost destroyed. Since then he has fallen in line completely. Just watch his debates with Obama before and after the “accident.” It’s like day and night.

Dr. Judy confined her research to what happened and how did it happen. A Christian lawyer has undertaken the task of unraveling the probable culprits who carried out the attack. Edward Hendrie in his 2011 book “9/11 – Enemies Foreign and Domestic” presents his view of who the perpetrators were using 685 sources to establish his conclusions. I found in Judy Wood and Edward Hendrie two sources that were instructive in relation to latter day events. I very much appreciate other comments on this website.
Interesting to think about, but I would be cautious about assuming that everything you hear about is a secret combination. If we try to turn everything into a secret combination then we won’t be able to focus on getting rid of the real ones.
To be very real and honest here….WE are NOT supposed to get rid of the secret combinations….it is the sign of the times and it WILL move forward as the scriptures prophecy. The point is for OUR personal and collective salvation. The exact same principle happened with the saints just before Christ’s birth, as well as his death AND the VERY descriptive prophecy by CHRIST himself of the destruction of the Nephites in the 4th generation after Christ’s resurrection. God is omniscient and this life is to prove to OURSELVES whom we will serve. We are in the last dispensation and the Earth is preparing for her Celestial Glory and it is a very specific process.

Paying particular attention to the third one and this was done BEFORE I even saw your advice to read Ether 8 :D Anyway, I still stand with my statement that it will all go down as it is supposed to as the prophecies state. What I didn’t think needed to be stated was that we ARE to “fight” for our rights and not just idly stand by as they happen. We are to PREPARE to be in further subjugation to the falls and struggles that will happen. I am in full agreement and the best participation as I can manage in MY life at this time as Ezra admonishes in fine detail in his third video. Thank you Ezra!!

IMO the way to fight against these types of things (whether you believe all of them or not) is to follow the teachings of Christ, and of our prophets. It is good to be aware of what is going on, but I don’t think we should get so caught up in it that it takes away from us doing the simple things that bring peace to us and our families.
Repent of your sins. Make and keep sacred covenants. be actively engaged in a good cause. Be active in your community supporting the things you believe. The scriptures tell us that if we are prepared we shall not fear. We can fight them by spreading the gospel and helping others repent. As for all the people saying that the Modern Prophets have said nothing concerning secret combinations. You truly are blind. The Lord also does not spoon feed us. Do you think he is going to give us all the answers and secrets in flashing lights? The Gospel has never been like that. And how can you think that just because a Prophet is dead that his words no longer apply? I guess we need to throw out our Book of Mormons.
How can anyone observe what is happening today and still not “get it”? The last few months have made it glaringly obvious that there are those in power in D.C. (and likely on a more local level as well) who have their own agenda and are seeking yet more power. Regardless of who was responsible for the disaster of 9/11, it should be obvious to everyone that our freedoms have been eroding since. Security checks at the airports, anti-gun legislation, Obamacare, billions of rounds of ammo ordered for HOMELAND security, legislation authorizing seizure of food storage in excess of TWO WEEKS and the arrest of the owner as a terrorist, punitive locking down of federal monuments, etc (in the hope of sparking riots so the government can then sweep in and enforce martial law?)
Top military leaders have been questioned on whether or not they would order troops to fire on American citizens – and those who have said they would not have been quietly and systematically removed. Legislation is in place for “indefinite detention” for those SUSPECTED of possible FUTURE “terrorism”. The powers given to FEMA “for our own good” are frightening. The list goes on and on. Remember how to cook a frog? Turn the heat up SLOWLY.
My question is – when our eyes have been opened, WHAT ARE WE TO DO? Is it enough to have our food storage (making us terrorists!), get out of debt, and do our best to elect righteous politicians (and yes, they DO exist – not all are corrupt) and spread the Gospel message? Do we just prepare the best we can and hunker down? What?

What an interesting website this is and an even more interesting topic. All I can say is …. no duh! I have seen secret combinations in US government for decades! No matter what anyone says, it is happening. I have been watching it for a very long time and it just gets scarier and scarier. I would just like to point out the secrecy is not necessarily a requirement. Unfortunately though this just shows how far along they have come. This is a late comment so sorry. I believe there are some conspiracies and you can see the work of secret combinations. I just don’t think 9/11 was one of them. I believe 9/11 was a punishment for our pride. (and showed our incompetence just like Benghazi did) I like the ideas in The Harbinger written by Jonathan Cahn. Since 9/11 we have become more prideful. Since 9/11, I hardly recognize the country anymore. Now those changes were defintely due to some secret combination taking advantage of a disaster. You recall that 5-Star General and President Dwight Eisenhower used many words to warn of the use of that complex to obtain control of world governments and use them to secretly create continual warfare. I find this interesting. Picking and choosing a prophets words is a dangerous game. I think many who write and read on this website do not understand or consider the history of the United States and the propaganda that our own country has been publishing since the beginning. Broad statements are tricky and this is full of them.
This is true, but topics on which many of the Brethren agree and which none contradict is another thing entirely. Many LDS support socialism yet it has been decried by many of the Brethren and to my knowledge never supported by any.
I have enjoyed the many fruitful comments. If we are searching current events that suggest conspiracy, especially events that have worldwide impact on our LDS culture as well as all others, I suggest researching specific topics such as possible (1) weather engineering evidenced by strange new patterns observed in the storm movements of Katrina, Frankenstorm, Harvey, Irma and Jose` that have been noted by weather reporters; (2) the worldwide appearance of chemtrail patterns and their effect on soils, water, plants, human health; and (3) the appearance worldwide of ET (extraterrestrial) vehicles, currently suppressed! The idea of aliens is a deception of the Adversary. Nothing in scripture about it or is said by modern prophets to support it.
Aliens and the idea (or fear of it) is a tactic I believe the government will use to round up the so-called enemies of the state. Or create an alien invasion to “unite” the world against a common enemy.
Look up Pres. Reagan’s UN speech. He mentions his belief of how the world will accept a one world government. Alien invasion. It was a strange comment, but telling if one is paying attention.
Look at all the shows on TV and movies about it. People either disappear, die, and the world unites against the aliens. It will be easy to claim this is why many have disappeared around the world. No one will know about the concentration camps created for Believers, and Freedom loving patriots.

May I address Chad in November 2016 and M this January. In your comments, you are unified in your use of the term “alien”, but you fail to even provide a definition of your use of the word. And neither of you indicate you have spent even a few hours in research of Dr. Greer’s books, lectures, interviews, webinars, and studying his evidence, and yet you form an opinion so powerful as to make sweeping warnings about trusting him. My first clue was that you didn’t use defined terms like extraterrestrial, ET, or UFO, and that this was probably going to be an emotional attack on the messenger rather than challenge his evidence. Have you in faith done that much to provide an evidence-based reason for making such opinions? I have done due diligence in researching his hundreds of airline pilots, ex-military testimonies and related sources including visual, airborne radar, and ground radar tracking of vehicles whose performance exceeds anything known in our inventory. I well understand concern of learning of visitors from outside our milky way galaxy, but when two of their strange vehicles crash as two did in July 1947 and which vehicles were quickly hidden by military personnel who later testified of the event, I find it incredible to suggest these men were “either drugged or saw a demon manifestation” when Greer presents written documents establishing the validity of the event. Certainly you can be more respectful of the honorable witnesses Greer has assembled.

My understanding of those verses is that they refer to the Book of Isaiah being sealed by Isaiah to prevent scribal errors and provide clarity to Nephi’s statement relating to the Jewish method of documentation. Trying to read Isaiah using western linear logic is difficult because it is composed in topical synchronous format. But what greatly surprises me is that I find no references to Isaiah presumably by those who say they have read the Book of Mormon and yet ignore the 3 Nephi 23: 1 commandment by the Savior to “search” Isaiah. How can we as a people expect to keep the 2nd Estate if we disobey a commandment by the Deity who is the pinnacle of Priesthood authority? And may I also express my surprise that in the verses prior to 29: 15-16, Isaiah warns of prophets and seers being inactive. After 24 years of continual growth in understanding Isaiah’s messages, it is my firm opinion that without Isaiah to guide us we will be deceived as J.Reuben Clark stated in 1941. I am very surprised that so many lds (sorry for abbreviation) seem to not follow the admonition to read and pray for guidance about these things. Greatly enjoyed reading the comments. Ezra Taft Benson was asked by someone why he stopped talking about the conspiracy in USA once he became President. There is not so much of an outspoken tone in his later talks, although he was still clear about secret combinations. He said that the people had been warned already. Cannot quote exactly but that was gist. He then focused getting members to read the Book of Mormon and keeping commandments which members were not doing so correctly. I would not suggest that all American Government Presidents or top ranking officials are in the secret combination, likely most. Two organisation in America provide nearly all important positions of power. These are, Royal Institute
of International Affairs and the Council on Foreign Relations [C.F.R.]. See the book ‘Non Dare Call It A Conspiracy’ by Gary Allen (Pre. Benson, in conference 1961, told members to read). These organisation are the deep state run by the richest people in America to get gain and power. They control the Democrat and Republican parties. Maybe Presidents Kennedy and Nixon disappeared from office, perhaps they did not follow the rules of these powerful organisations. As a person Donald is no good, but the last election he lost looked odd. Again perhaps he wasn’t playing ball with the deep state. The deep state top guys do not care if a person is good or bad they will use them to achieve their aims. You won’t find enough evidence to prove any of this, that is why it is a SECRET COMBINATION. Which is more important for church members, in their leisure time being on computer games, tv, at sporting events for 20 odd hours a week or studying and receiving personal life saving communion with the Lord. We have no excuses we have been told year after year (I have been a member 40 years, been on a mission, served in Bishoprics, years in youth, most church callings and have always held a temple recommend, and have only recently woken up to the seriousness of the hour – I have started on the road to repentance – I hope I’m not too late). He has promised to answer prayers to the faithful and repentant.
Also, look at the prophecy of Ezra eagle 2nd Esdras, by brother Michael Rush and James Prout. Also, The LDS 11 Archives, Micah English.(going over scriptures BOM, DC, REVELATIONS, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith and other early church leaders and you see we are in the end times (just like the Jaradites and Nephites were when secret combinations destroyed then). Pres. Nelson 2020 conference said that those investigating church today and those returning to activity need to do so quickly. Look at the proclamation that church have put, their fruition came about not long after – abortion and same sex marriage passed by your government, (I am an old English Latter Day Saint, who’s country is full of the rights of the people being taken away by godless leaders) check the date of release of proclamation and dates of these laws being set up. The last proclamation was that of Joseph Smith’s First Vision. Why was this? Probably because of the great test we are currently facing and the tougher one about to be unleased after the desolating sickness that is sweeping the earth Doctrine and Covenants 45:31. What does the Prophet know that is coming next that we need our own firm testimony – not us being spoon fed which is not going to save us. Look at the numbers currently leaving the church, just as happened when the Nephite civilisation collapsed. The “White Horse Prophecy” as a whole is not Church doctrine, but those parts of it that are quoted in General Conference are, especially when they are quoted multiple times. The Elders of Israel will lead the fight to save the Constitution, but I expect that freedom -loving people everywhere will join with us politically, if not religiously.
